Volume 4, Number 2                April 2009

Welcome <$firstname$>,

Seems like I finally get around to getting a newsletter out near some big holiday. Last time it was New Year's, this time it's Easter, which means Spring is here, flowers are blooming and the nights are getting warmer.

It also means there's a lot going on. I finished three books in March, two for clients and one for me. Arvee and I finished planning for Market Your Way to Wealth and the launch was over the top successful.

I hope a lot is happening in your life as well. Now is the time to take advantage of opportunities, many of which may never come along again. I've noted a few items below that you might check out. However, watch for your own opportunities, the ones that show up every day, and use them to build your business.

In this issue:

News From Market Your Way to Wealth

Arvee and I launched Market Your Way to Wealth in March after deciding to let everyone in at no charge. We've got quite a lineup, including Eric Lofholm, Adam Urbanski, Lisa Cherney, Matt Bacak, Mike Woo-Ming, Nancy Marmolejo, Daniel Hall, and Jill Lublin. I'll be talking about using writing as a marketing tool Friday morning and Arvee will speak on using speaking as a marketing tool Saturday morning.

Like I said, there is no charge to attend. It's local, at the Ayres Hotel Ontario May 1, 2, 3, 2009. Registration is simple. Just go to www.marketyourwaytowealth.com and use the blue button at the bottom of the page. We'll see you there.

Using Writing as a Marketing Tool

I often point out to people that the single most powerful marketing tool they can use, especially in a poor economy, is good writing.

If you look around you, you will see that virtually every sales message you see, from emails to books to videos to sales letters to sales scripts, has to be written before it can be delivered.

This is elementary. However, to be effective it must be written well. This means that it must create a powerful emotional effect on the reader (or listener) in order to creat the impulse to buy.

Many people claim they are not affected by emotion and just want the facts but the truth is that the facts are not enough. To get anyone to part with hard-earned money, you must give them a reason to buy your product over any others.

If you can get your reader to say, "Yes, I want that.", you will succeed as a marketer. The secret to creating this powerful desire to buy is that you must use story techniques to draw your prospect in, keep him or her reading your message, and bring him or her to point of sale.

I will be talking more about this subject at Market Your Way to Wealth May 1 so I hope to see you there.

Meanwhile check out my writing protégé program where I teach these skills every week at:
